Poetry written by the schoolchildren at Spring Grove Junior School reflecting the themes of war and peace mixed with testimony of an Iraqi woman's thoughts on the silence.
(School Children reading their poems)
War is full of fiery lands,
War is full of tired hands,
Peace makes us happy and glad,
Things like peace are the roses I had.
War is full of blood everywhere,
War is full of roaring bears,
Peace is like a smiling face,
Things like peace are the children playing chase.
War is destruction,
War is full of blood,
War is full of fighting,
People killed don’t rest in peace,
Black signifies war.
Peace makes quietness,
Peace makes calmness,
Peace makes no war,
People killed rest in peace,
White signifies peace
War is armies killing,
War is full of bombs hitting.
Peace is a rewarding gift,
Peace is a dreamy drift.
War is a fighting place,
War is making people terribly unsafe.
Peace is brightly coloured,
Peace is mightily discovered.
War is full of red blood,
War is full of dead bodies,
Peace brings happiness and joy to everybody,
Things like peace are people playing, singing,
And all chatting like a chatterbox.
(Farrah Speaking)
This is five minutes to respect everybody that gave their life for this country. I think so.
Do you pray for peace?
Yes, sure, I pray too much and I hope, I wish I find the peaceful for everywhere. For every country. I pray too much before, and I am still praying to find the peace.
I don't know how to explain to you but I have special words which I use. I try to ask by my god to give peace to everybody but I don't know how to explain exactly because it's very long and very important, things that I say in my prayer. But in the end I want peace for everywhere.
