The Yorkshire Film Archive finds, preserves, and shows film and television material made in Yorkshire, for the education, information, and entertainment of the people of Yorkshire and further afield.
It has purpose-built premises, which include specialist film vaults where the collections are housed, film repair and conservation facilities, and a public access viewing room where people can come to research films from the collections.

Community Programmes:
The Archive makes its collections accessible to a wide range of audiences. It has a regular programme of public screenings, running in cinemas or other local venues across the region, taking films back to the communities in which they were made. The Archive works with museums and heritage organisations, and has recently been working on two projects with Leeds and Bradford Museums, as part of the Renaissance Partnership Initiative:

My World, My Things, which takes a snapshot of shopping and fashion culture in Bradford by young people within the present landscape of regeneration and change.

Steps in Time, a project to create a contemporary filmed history of the story of dance in Leeds.
It also works with institutions from the formal and informal education sectors, and can offer research services, specialist presentations, exhibitions and learning support materials.
