The Origins of Bradford Northern

John Mason, Martin Bass and John Downes have volunteered for many years with the Bradford Bulls Rugby League team. In this interview they talk about the reasons for the split between Rugby Union and what would become Rugby League and the origins of the old team name, Bradford Northern.   Click the Video link to see the story.

This digi story was recorded as part of the My World: My Sport project, a partnership between Bradford Museums and Galleries, Renaissance Yorkshire and Yorkshire Film Archive.

The My World project has been running since 2007 and has looked at different aspects of Bradford’s communities and people. The project has used new media techniques to capture Bradford living so that future generations can look back and understand fully what life was like in this time period.

The final year of the project has focused on sport and culminated with the My World: My Sport exhibition. The year has been spent looking at the sports played in and around Bradford and what they mean to the people and communities of the area. The project has looked at all ranges of sports from groups to individuals, main stream sport to more creative games.  The project has also stepped back in time to revisit some of the past sporting greats of Bradford.
