World War I on the Web

If you have been inspired by this digi story to find out more about your friends or relatives who served in the First World War, there are lots of online resources you could consult.

  • First World War stories from the Wakefield District
    explores the stories of five local men, comparing and contrasting the lives of different soldiers to gain insights into the impact of 'total war' on their local community (see link below).

  • The Two Minute Silence
    includes audio clips of Mabel jenkins remembering her father, John Clement Gardiner, who was badly injured during the First World War, and Max Easterman's memories of Remembrance Day when he was a child (see link below).
